Key leaders from U.S. Army Japan and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) meet at Japan's Ministry of Defense, July 10, 2015, in Tokyo. Hosted by the Japan Self-Defense Force, the meeting marked the first formal visit between Gen. Kiyofumi Iwata, chief of staff, JGSDF, and Army Maj. Gen. James F. Pasquarette, commanding general, U.S. Army Japan. The two generals discussed their respective command's previous achievements, current operations and possible challenges while presenting opportunities to enhance the close partnership between the two countries through combined training exercises and service member exchange programs.
