150417-N-WS581-028 GULF OF ADEN (April 17, 2015) -Hull Maintenance Technician 2nd Class Conor MacDermott, from Norfolk, Va., takes a fuel sample aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21). New York is a part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
