Cpl. Joshua Vega, a rescueman with a Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, displays the tools he works with as a firefighter on Wednesday at Waimanalo Beach Park. Children with the Department of Parks and Recreation Summer Fun program went to various stations led by Marines where they tried on the firefighter's protective equipment, learned how to extinguish a fire and were shown the tools used by firefighters. The purpose of the event was to educate the children, who ranged in age from 5 to 13 and come from the Waimanalo area, in basic fire safety. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Adam O. Korolev)
