U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Eric Dougherty, center, Sgt. Maj. Marcus Chestnut, right, and Chief Minister Adam Giles, left, shake hands with the Northern Territory Thunder Football Club team captains before a game against the Aspley Hornets June 13 at TIO Stadium, Mararra, Northern Territory, Australia. NT NT Thunder is part of the Australian Football League, the pre-eminent footy professional league. Australian football is played between two teams of eighteen players, and the goal of the game is to kick the ball between two tall goal posts to score points. The football game was an excellent opportunity to improve Marines’ knowledge of the host nation and the culture, which ultimately strengthens our interoperability. Dougherty is the commanding officer of 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin. Chestnut is the sergeant major of 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, MRF-D. Giles is the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Reba James/Released)
