GULF OF ADEN (July 1, 2015) Gunner’s Mate Seaman Derek Miller communicates with the bridge during a general quarters drill while a MV-22 Osprey prepares to land on the flight deck of Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is the flagship for the Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
