Griffin was given a tour of the ship and walked through a static display of the various weapons systems and aircraft used by the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The Marines and sailors of the 31st MEU and the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group are currently deployed on the MEU's regularly scheduled Fall Patrol. The 31st MEU is the only continuously forward deployed MEU in the Marine Corps. Matte is a gunner with Weapons Company, Batallion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st MEU.
