Michigan National Guard Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment assigned to units in Detroit, Saginaw, Wyoming and Big Rapids practice a UH-60 Black Hawk medical evacuation with Grand Ledge-based, 3rd Battalion, 238th General Support Aviation crew during a nuclear detonation response exercise in Grand Rapids, Mich., June 26, 2015. The exercise, Northern Exposure, integrates Michigan National Guard members and civilian first responders to rehearse life sustaining capabilities during natural or man-made catastrophic events. For many of the infantrymen, the exercise was the first time participating with role players who tested the Soldiers' capabilities of handling unruly U.S. citizens rather than civilians or enemies in an overseas environment.
