    Marine Rotational Force - Darwin

U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Shane McCarthy, a Baltimore, Maryland native, pulls the lanyard of an M777A2 lightweight 155 mm howitzer to fire a projectile in support of an air assault course June 29 at Bradshaw Field Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia. The AAC was a bilateral combined arms training event that combined light infantry, indirect fire weapons systems and air assets to capture and fight through a mock enemy objective. The Marine Rotational Force – Darwin deployment enables Marines to more effectively train, exercise, and operate with their Australian partners, enhances regional security and builds the capacity to respond more rapidly to natural disasters and crises throughout the region. McCarthy is an artilleryman with 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine regiment under the unit deployment program. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by SSgt.
