Air Force Lt. Col Debra Miesle waits to hand a cup of water to runners during an 13.1 mile half-marathon, celebrating the Air Force's 63rd birthday. Marathon's are held in September each year in celebration of the U.S. Air Force birthday. The first official marathon was held, Sept. 20, 1997, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Air Force.
