U.S. Army Cpl. Matthew Mueller, Warrior Transition Battalion, Fort Carson, Colo., receives the gold medal for the Men's 50-meter freestyle 1.0 visually impaired swimming event at the 2015 Department of Defense Warrior Games, Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Va., June 27. Mueller also received gold medals in the Men's 50-meter breaststroke 1.0 visually impaired, Men's 50-meter backstroke 1.0 visually impaired, and Men's 100-meter freestyle 1.0 visually impaired events. The DOD Warrior Games are held from June 19-28. The games are an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 250 athletes, representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Special Operations Command and the British Armed Forces will compete in archery, cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track & field and wheelchair basketball.
