A statue of a mother protects her child at the memorial to the Salispils Concentration Camp just outside of Riga, Latvia. Soldiers from the Michigan National Guard traveled to the site as a part of cultural day during a break in the Saber Strike exercise. Saber Strike is a U.S. Army Europe led theater security cooperation exercise that is being conducted at locations throughout the Baltic region and Poland.
