Julian Martinez, Air Force Research Laboratory electrical engineer, Brandon Smith, Air Force Research Laboratory aerospace engineer, and Jonathan Boston, AFRL aeronautical engineer, all members of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, 2015 AFRL Commanders Challenge team, monitor their active shooter detection system from their base defense operations center June 18, at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Butlerville, Ind. Their system allowed for real-time tracking of emergency responders allowing dispatchers to direct them where to go in the building using a real-time building map showing triggered alarms.
