150621-N-NK134-043 ACAJUTLA, El Salvador (June 21, 2015) - Sailors, assigned to the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), and a critical care nurse volunteer with the non-governmental organization (NGO) University of California San Diego Pre-Dental Society (UCSD PDS), prepare to transfer a Salvadoran patient after surgery aboard Comfort during Continuing Promise 2015 (CP-15). UCSD volunteers are working alongside other NGOs and joint military members during CP-15. Continuing Promise is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored and U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet-conducted deployment to conduct civil-military operations including humanitarian-civil assistance, subject matter expert exchanges, medical, dental, veterinary and engineering support and disaster response to partner nations and to show U.S. support and commitment to Central and South America and the Caribbean.
