Lance Corporal Derek Pelkey, an infantryman with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment and native of Lunenburg, Mass., gets promoted aboard the USS San Antonio (LPD) 17, June 2, 2015. Marines are underway from New York City to the Baltic Sea as part of BALTOPS 2015. BALTOPS is an annual exercise that provides the opportunity for NATO Allies and regional partners to strengthen interoperability through a series of tactical maneuvers and scenarios. The exercise involves Marines, Sailors, Airmen, and Soldiers of participating nations working side-by-side to enhance each other’s tactics and expertise, both on land and sea.
