Salvadoran Brig. Gen. Armando Mejia, the Salvadoran army chief of staff, presents a gift to U.S. Army Lt. Col. Joseph Dermenjian, the commander of Task Force Northstar, in thanks for his support and assistance during Beyond the Horizon 2015. Beyond the Horizon is a U.S. Southern Command sponsored, U.S. Army South planned and led humanitarian and civic assistance exercise. The exercise is a major component of the U.S. military's regional engagement efforts and affords a unique opportunity to train U.S. service members alongside partner nation personnel, while providing needed services to communities throughout the region.
