Marines with 2nd Platoon, Charlie Co., 1st Battalion load their ammunition before the close-quarters training they are about to conduct aboard the USS San Antonio (LPD 17) en route from New York City to Europe for BALTOPS (find full spelling) May 26-June 6 2015. BALTOPS is an annual exercise that provides the opportunity for NATO and regional partners to strengthen inoperability through a series of tactical maneuvers and scenarios. The exercise involves Marines, Sailors, Airmen, and Soldiers of participating nations working side-by-side to enhance each other’s tactics and expertise, both on land and sea.
