U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Jesenia Carranza, 21st Medical Operations Squadron, 21st Medical Group medical technician, out of Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colo., observes a patient having their blood drawn at the Dr. Salvador Paredos Hospital in Trujillo, Honduras, June 12, 2015. The medical support is part of the New Horizons Honduras 2015 training exercise and includes a construction project, a well-drilling project and medical support in both Trujillo and Tocoa, Honduras. New Horizons was launched in the 1980s and is an annual joint humanitarian assistance exercise that U.S. Southern Command conducts with a partner nation in Central America, South America or the Caribbean. The exercise improves joint training readiness of U.S. and partner nation civil engineers, medical professionals and support personnel through humanitarian assistance activities.
