U.S. Army General John Abizaid, commander, U.S. Central Command (center), participates in a briefing provided by Pakistani Rear Adm. Shahid Iqbal, commander, Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 at Naval Support Activity Bahrain, May 8. CTF 150 conducts Maritime Security Operations (MSO) in the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Oman, Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean, and the Red Sea. Pakistan is the first regional country to take leadership of a maritime coalition task force. MSO help set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment, as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations.
