Sgt. Kazunori Yamashiro, left, and Kazumune Namizato of the Okinawa Police Department in Okinawa City shares traffic safety tips with Marines and sailors during the traffic safety segment of the “101 critical days of summer” brief June 5 at the base theater on Camp Foster, Okinawa. “It’s important to be aware of traffic, especially during (peak) traffic hours,” said Namizato. “The more (congested) the traffic, the more of a risk of accidents occurring.” The 101 critical days of summer, traditionally observed Memorial Day through Labor Day, is the span of time where statistics show the most accidents and incidents among service members occur. Yamashiro is the chief of traffic safety with the Okinawa Police Department. Namizato is a foreign cases investigator with the Okinawa Police Department. The Marines and sailors are with Headquarters & Service Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Japan. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Cpl. Brittany A.
