US efforts to liberate Montebourg honored in WWII commemoration

U.S. Army Soldiers march through Montebourg, France, June 4, 2015, en route to a World War II commemoration ceremony. U.S. forces helped liberate Montebourg from Nazi occupation in June 1944. American, French and German soldiers participated in the event honoring the sacrifices of the service members who died while liberating France. More than 380 U.S. service members from Europe and affiliated D-Day historical units are participating in the 71st Anniversary as part of Joint Task Force D-Day 71. The task force, based in Sainte Mere Eglise, France, is supporting local events across Normandy, from June 2-8, 2015, to commemorate the selfless actions by all the Allies on D-Day that continue to resonate 71 years later.
