Capt. Mustapha Silla, a communications officer for the U.S. Army Africa Command Regionally Aligned Force Brigade Combat Team, and Marine Sgt. Kevin LaConte, a communications team chief for AFRICOM’s Joint Communications Support Element, set up a communications satellite on the roof of a former prison the RAF is using as a tactical operations command post June 3 on the Spanish Legion base, Alvarez de Sotomayor, Almeria, Spain. The RAF is in Almeria to partner with the Legion during African Readiness Training 15, a multinational combined arms exercise focusing on a collective ability to counter violent extremist organizations throughout Northern Africa.
