U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Tyonek Thompson, a radio operator with 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin (MRF-D), observes impacts made by 81 mm mortar rounds through a long range thermal imager during Exercise Predator Walk in Mount Bundey Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia, May 25. The forward observers survey artillery impacts and communicate the acquired information to the mortarmen in order to produce an accurate outcome. Predator Walk includes training that reflects the interoperability of a Marine Air-Ground Task Force with Australian allies. Thompson is a native of Philadelphia.
