Approximately 30 Stryker combat vehicles, various support equipment and personnel traversed the Romanian country roads in the early morning hours Aug. 14 making their way to the Romanian Land Forces' Babadag Training Area in preparation for their combined U.S.-Romanian training scheduled to commence Aug. 18. The 4th Squadron of the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment based in Vielsec, Germany, plan to have approximately 850 training and support personnel train side-by-side with members of the Romanian 33rd Mountain Troops Battalion based out of Curte De Arges, Romania through the end of October 2009 as part of U.S. Army Europe's Joint Task Force-East 2009. The training rotation is based out of Mihail Kogalniceanu near the eastern port city of Constanta. The JTF-East mission focus is to increase Theater Security Cooperation in the region, to build interoperability and develop personal and professional relationships.
