The crew of the Coast Guard cutter Fir, homeported in Astoria, Ore., competes in the West Coast Aids to Navigation Olympics, Thursday, Aug. 13, on the deck of the cutter Fir during the chain faking event. The ATON Olympics is an annual event in which land units and cutters along the West Coast receive training and compete against each other to test their seamanship and buoy-deck rigging skills.
