Rep. Patrick Murphy meets constituents from the 4th Brigade, 1st Armored Division "Highlander" during his visit to Iraq, Aug. 9. The Pennsylvania Democrat received briefings on the brigade's advise and assist mission, toured a CERP funded civilian training complex and met with U.S. and Iraqi security force leaders at Camp Dhi Qar, an Iraqi base near Nasiriyah. The Highlander Brigade, the first unit to serve in an "advisory and assistance" role, is deployed out of Fort Bliss, Texas, and operates in Dhi Qar, Maysan and Muthanna provinces in southern Iraq. Murphy is the first Iraqi war veteran elected to congress.
