U.S. Army Pvt. Michael Martinez a 91H “Tracked Vehicle Mechanic” in the 10th Brigade Engineer Battalion, checks engine cylinder specifications for a Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle diesel engine that wasn’t running at full efficiency on May 12, 2015 at the Hohenfels Training Area (Germany) during exercise Combined Resolve IV. Although new to the Army, Martinez joined with over six years of experience as a diesel mechanic in San Jose, California. Martinez said, “It doesn’t matter where I’m fixing engines, whether Fort Stewart, Georgia or Hohenfels, Germany, I’m just glad to serve as a Soldier in the U.S. Army.” Keeping the vehicles moving is a very important part of Combined Resolve, which is a series of bi-annual U.S. Army Europe exercises designed to train participants to function together in a multinational and integrated environment and to train U.S. Army rotational forces in Europe to be more flexible, agile and better able to operate alongside allies and partners in the region.
