Dr. Ub Shenwari, a native of the Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, instructs Marines with the 1st Marine Logistics Group how to interact with an Afghan family during cultural awareness training at the Base Theater, July 28 and 29. During the course, Marines with 1st Marine Logistics Group learned that respecting the Afghan culture plays a vital role in mission accomplishment. Marines also learned that greeting Afghans with a smile and saying 'Salaam Alaikum!' will help earn the trust and respect of Afghans.
