Command Sgt. Maj. Oscar Diaz takes responsibility of U.S. Army Pacific Support Unit during a change of responsibility ceremony at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, April 11, 2015. Diaz replaces Command Sgt. Maj. Mitomi as the top enlisted personnel. He will act as senior enlisted adviser to Col. George Dixon, commander of USARPAC-SU, and enforce policies within the unit. The change of command ceremony renders honor to the departing noncommissioned officer and provides official recognition of the incoming leader. The ceremony is also the first time he meets and interacts with the Soldiers he will lead. Diaz is the first New Yorker of Puerto Rican heritage to hold responsibility of the unit.
