150415-N-IY633-042 ATLANTIC OCEAN (April 15, 2015) – Sailors on the forecastle of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2) flagship USS Vicksburg (CG 69) observe as a shot line is fired over to SNMG2 German oiler FGS Spessart (A 1442) during an underway replenishment. SNMG2 is currently embarked in the Atlantic participating in Joint Warrior, Europe’s largest multinational multi-warfare exercise. Three of NATO’s Standing Naval Forces, Standing NATO Maritime Group 2, and Standing NATO Maritime Mine Counter Measures Groups 1 and 2 are participating in Joint Warrior with 55 warships and submarines, and 70 air assets from Allied countries. In total, the exercise involves approximately 14,000 personnel training and operating together to develop specific war fighting skills through diverse training and credible scenario development.
