Brig. Gen. James Ernst, the North Carolina National Guard’s assistant adjutant general for maneuver, talks with Lt. Col. William Gray, the commander of 1st Battalion, 252nd Armored Regiment, April 12, 2015, at Fort Pickett, Va. Ernst visited the unit, which is part of the NCNG’s 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team, during its annual training in order to speak with leaders and Soldiers and observe their field exercises.
