(Left to right) Brig. Gen. Richard Torres, deputy commander 80th Training Command (TASS), Staff Sgt. William Fleming, a utilities equipment repairer, C 3rd-399th, 800th Logistics Support Brigade, 80th TC, and Command Sgt. Maj. Jeff Darlington, senior noncommissioned officer, 800th LSB, following Fleming’s induction into the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club during a ceremony, Richmond, Va., April 17, 2015. SAMC candidates are formally recommended for membership based on their leadership abilities and for showing genuine concern for Soldiers and the Soldiers' families. The competitors then appear before a panel of senior NCOs for a painstaking verbal examination. The SAMC, named after the United States military's most decorated veteran, is a private U.S. Army organization for enlisted noncommissioned officers that began at Fort Hood, Texas, in 1986.
