Members of Maine National Guard's Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion of the 172nd Infantry Regiment completed the Boston Marathon in Iraq combat style. Capt. Darryl Lyon, Pvt. Norman Gilmore, Sgt. James Chappelow (pictured), and Sgt. Keith York, all from Brewer, Maine, finished the marathon in 5:55:18, while wearing combat boots and carrying over 35 pounds of equipment, including an M-16 rifle and a ruck sack. The 26.2 mile run included a scenic bypass of the Ziggurat of Ur, a 4,000-year-old ruin and is currently protected by coalition forces.with some 650 runners and staffers.
