The Italian relay team, 'Red Devils', Ali Base, Iraq, were the first team to cross the finish line in 2 hours, 52 minutes, 03 seconds at the 2nd Annual Boston Marathon held at Ali Base/LSA Adder, Iraq, April 15, 2006. Those competing either as an individual or in a team ran a 26.2-mile route that took them by one of Iraq's archaeological treasures, the Ziggurat of Ur, a 4,000-year-old Sumerian temple that rises approximately 50 feet above the desert floor of the Euphrates Valley. Officials of the Boston Marathon will hand out medals to those individuals who complete the run and trophies to the top runners.
