Air Force Research Laboratory Materials and Manufacturing Directorate research scientist, Steve Kim, displays a 3D model of graphene, a type of carbon that can be used in developing nanoelectronic sensors for human performance monitoring. Graphene has unique, natural electronic binding properties that are allowing Air Force scientists at AFRL/RX, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, to develop a low-cost, manufacturable bio-sensing platform that is capable of achieving ultrasensitive molecular detection.
