A floating causeway transports cargo containers from the Military Sealift Command crane ship SS Cornhusker State (T-ACS 6) to the shore of U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay during exercise Joint Logistics Over-The-Shore 09. JLOTS is a critical capability that allows the military to move forces and supplies without the benefit of a fixed, deep-draft port. The exercise will demonstrate the Navy, Army and Marine Corps ability to deploy, discharge and conduct reception and staging of equipment in a scenario that requires ships to offload while still offshore.
