150401-N-LD343-005 PACIFIC OCEAN (April 1, 2015) – Boatswain’s Mate Seaman Apprentice Jeron Hancock, assigned to Deck department on board amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), reports the status of the anchor chain to the petty officer in charge during an anchor drop test. The Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey team is on board evaluating the crew during their final contract trials. America is the first ship of its class and is optimized for Marine Corps aviation.
