Latvians, Canadians and U.S. Marines filled 300 sandbags in 45 minutes; talk about combined-effort efficiency. U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. John Hodge, Black Sea Rotational Force, and a combat engineer with the Latvian Land Forces shared the experience at Exercise Summer Shield, March 24, 2015. Filling sandbags and creating obstacles was part of phase zero of the joint, combined staff-planning and combined–arms live fire and maneuver event hosted by Latvia.
