Soldiers of the XVIII Airborne Corps complete a 4-mile validation run ahead of their commanding general, Lt. Gen. Joseph Anderson’s, March 26 at Fort Bragg, N.C. This run served as Anderson’s final opportunity to run with the troops as commander of America’s contingency corps. Anderson, who will transition out of command later this spring, assumed command of the XVIII Airborne Corps in July 2013 and led the Corps to Afghanistan to serve as the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command headquarters, closing the unit at the conclusion of NATO’s combat mission in December 2014.
