Staff Sgt. Gary J. Betancourt, the fire control chief for the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, shows his winning sprit after beating Staff Sgt. Troy E. Lenhardt, supply chief for Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 22nd MEU, in a friendly tricycle race during a "Steel Beach" picnic on the flight deck of USS Bataan June 26. Marines and Sailors from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and Bataan came together for a day of food, fun and games to build comradery during a scheduled deployment. The MEU, embarked aboard the ships of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, is currently serving as the theater reserve force for U.S. Central Command.
