Two MV-22B Ospreys landed at United States Fleet Activity Sasebo, Japan, for the first time in the aircraft's history during a "proof of concept" flight March 23, 2015. The flight marked the first time the Osprey landed at Sasebo and demonstrated the operational reach of the aircraft. Future use of the landing zone at Sasebo will reduce the logistics chain while increasing readiness and crises response time for the U.S. Marine Corps.
