U.S. Marine Corps Col. Romin Dasmalchi (left) and Capt. Adrian R. Evangelista prepare to take off from the flight deck of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), at sea, in an MV-22B Osprey March 23, 2015. Two Ospreys landed at United States Fleet Activity Sasebo, Japan, for the first time in the aircraft's history during a "proof of concept" flight. The flight demonstrated the operational reach of the aircraft. Future use of the landing zone at Sasebo will reduce the logistics chain while increasing readiness and crises response time for the U.S. Marine Corps. Dasmalchi is the commanding officer for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. Evangelista and the aircraft is with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st MEU.
