Gen Stephen Williams, commandant of cadets and Ken Helgerson, 10th Civil Engineer Squadron fire chief, hand off a fireman's helmet and torch to start the remembrance run after cadets and academy leaders gathered for a solemn ceremony to honor the nearly 3,000 victims who lost their lives on 9/11, 2001 on the academy's terrazzo in Colorado Springs, Colo., Sept. 11, 2014. During the event, the academy remembered 9/11 victims, prisoners of war and those missing in action with the playing of retreat, taps and the national anthem.
