PACIFIC OCEAN (March 16, 2015) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Joshua Thompson directs 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) amphibious assault vehicles (AAVs) as they arrive in the well deck of Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Rushmore is underway participating in a Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) with the USS Essex (LHD 2) Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), which is comprised of Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) THREE and 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).
