Georgia National Guard Soldiers from 138th Chemical Company, prepare to place a mock casualty on a litter during Vigilant Guard, March 9, 2015, at Choppee Regional Resource Center in Georgetown, S.C. The Guardsmen are part of a team of Soldiers from South Carolina and Georgia as well as local and state emergency responders participating in a training exercise that included reacting to a variety of situations including conducting decontamination procedures, medical evacuations and other skills that may be required after a natural disaster. Vigilant Guard is a series of federally funded disaster-response drills conducted by National Guard units working with federal, state and local emergency management agencies and first responders.
