The Military Survivor Appreciation Week boot display outside of McAuliffe Hall (the 101st Airborne Division headquarters), Fort Campbell, Ky., Oct. 31, 2014. Personnel from the Survivor Outreach Services (SOS), Gold Star family members and many volunteers helped to collect, prepare and display nearly 7,000 boots (to honor fallen service members) on the grounds of the division headquarters. Each boot had a tag with a photo, name and date of a fallen military member that sacrificed their life, during the Global War on Terror from 9/11 to present day. SOS received donated boots from all over the world to complete this unique/first-ever display on post. The boot display is a way to honor the selfless service of our military heroes and provide a place of healing for friends and family members. The 101st Airborne Division monument is pictured in the photo. (U.S. Army photo by Sam Shore/Released)
