PEARL HARBOR (Feb. 18, 2015) –Quartermaster Seaman Austin Sanders, from Littlestown, Pa., uses a pelorus to determine the bearing of a vessel from the bridge wing of amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22) as the ship departs Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. San Diego, part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, and the embarked 11th MEU are returning to home port San Diego following a seven-month maiden deployment to the Western Pacific and the U.S. Central Command areas of operation.
