Members from the Chatan Hometown Association look inside of the draw well, Menu-ka, during their sacred site visit on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 11, 2015. This draw well, which was equipped with a pulley block and a well bucket, was constructed near the central area of the village around the year 1913. This well was almost completely demolished during the Battle of Okinawa, but some worshippers still pay a visit to the well even today. (U.S. Air Force photo by Naoto Anazawa)
