    U.S. Marine Capt. Jengis Gonzalez, right, a civil affairs officer with 3rd Civil Affairs Group was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 with the C-10 (Afghan National Security Forces Development), as part of I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). Gonzalez, an infantry officer by trait, was born in Thailand to an American father and a Thai mother. He speaks Thai fluently and has served three iterations of Exercise Cobra Gold as part of the Civil Affairs Group. Cobra Gold 2015, his latest assignment, is a combined-forces exercise, taking place across Thailand,to advance regional security and ensure effective responses to crises in the area.
