    III Marine Expeditionary Force

Lance Cpl. Conor Fleurant, from Cumberland, Rhode Island, shoots his M249 squad automatic weapon during a live fire unknown distance range Feb. 7 on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. The Marines “buddy rushed” through valleys, overgrown grass and trees while shooting at targets. Buddy rushing is when one Marine provides cover fire while another moves towards the enemy. The targets would pop up at random times and distances to simulate a more realistic environment. Fleurant is a machine gunner with Company W, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment currently assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Devon Tindle/Released)
