Rinn speaks to junior officers about his experience as commanding officer of the Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigate USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG 58) and its 1988 mining incident, during a Surface Warfare Junior Officer Tactical Program summit at Fleet Activities Yokosuka. Samuel B. Roberts struck an Iranian mine in the Persian Gulf and, while under command of Rinn, no lose of life or ship occurred.
